A new residence defined by a series of shifted volumes and protected courtyards, creating moments of privacy and connection to landscape throughout the site. The architecture frames views and draws natural light into the home, with a sunken courtyard extending the landscape into the lower level.

Old and new converge as a minimalist addition extends from the historic home, together shaping a private courtyard in a busy urban setting. The design balances preservation and innovation, honoring the character of the original structure while introducing a minimalist, modern counterpart.

A residence in Denver’s Berkeley neighborhood, organized around the preservation of a mature tree. The home’s two volumes create a courtyard providing private outdoor space. The architecture pays homage to mid century modern principles through simple forms, strong indoor-outdoor living, and an emphasis on natural light.

description
Designed and built as part of Colorado Building Workshop. All season micro cabins for senior staff members of Colorado Outward Bound School. Our cabin consists of two individual units, each with spaces designed for views and privacy. Constructed on an elevated steel frame for a minimal impact on the natural terrain, and built primarily of prefabricated structurally insulated panels, SIPS, cladded in a hot rolled steel rainscreen.
what we offer
We offer a range of services to meet the needs of every client.
-
A concept-driven approach to designing homes that are both refined and buildable. From initial ideas through construction, each phase is handled with clarity and a deep understanding of how design translates into the built environment.
Every decision, from massing and orientation to material selection and structural expression, is made with the ethos of the project in mind. We move through each phase with intention, ensuring that the clarity of the original concept is preserved as the design grows in complexity. The result is architecture that is resolved at every scale, from the site plan to the construction details.
-
An integrated interior design approach that aligns material and detail with the architecture - creating cohesive, intentional spaces.
Because interiors are developed alongside the architecture rather than after it, every finish, fixture, and surface decision is shaped by the proportions, light, and spatial logic already at work in the building.
Nothing is selected in isolation. Materials are considered in relation to each other, to the architecture, and to the way a space will be experienced over time. The outcome is an interior that feels inevitable rather than decorated.
-
Early-stage services that clarify potential, strengthen decisions, and communicate ideas with impact. This includes feasibility & site analysis, concept & marketing packages, and visualization & renderings.
Good decisions at the early stages of a project create compounding value throughout. They sharpen the brief, reduce costly pivots, and build confidence before significant commitments are made. Our visualization work is designed not just to communicate aesthetics, but to test ideas and tell a compelling story to the people who need to say yes. Whether you're evaluating a site, developing a concept, or preparing a project for market, these services bring focus and clarity at the moments that matter most.
